With all the planning going on for your wedding we have a few ideas that will help you decide on a hairstyle a little easier. Follow these few steps and you should be well on your way without any confusion.
Firstly, and hopefully this is before you have decided on a veil, you need to find a stylist whom you know and trust. Schedule a consultation three to four months before your wedding to discuss what style will best suite you.
Veil and Hairstyle Options
- Don’t just go for an up-style because you saw a nice picture in a magazine or because all your friends did. Chat with your stylist about what you really like and ask them what would best suite you.
- Find a style that will compliment who you are and also your gown and accessories.
- Don’t choose a style that doesn’t suite your hair e.g. if you spend hours with your stylist trying to curl your straight hair and halfway through your ceremony it starts falling out, what a disaster that would be!
Unless of course you use a ton of hairspray which you will have to try and wash out when you are suppose to be enjoying your first night with your new husband. That is why it is important to use a stylist that you know and most importantly, that knows you!

You now need to decide on a veil or headpiece that will compliment your hairstyle. If you still have to shop for one be sure to tell them at the store just how your hair will be done. You may even have one made to your exact requirements.
Whatever you decide you will have to have a “hair rehearsal”. Take your headpiece in to your stylist and play around with different styles. Try both up and down styles so that you get a good look at how both styles would look best.
If you are considering colouring or having highlights, it is best to start early. Don’t try outrageous colours or styles for your wedding day as this is a day where you want to be your most relaxed and comfortable. Taking a style or colour risk might end up being disastrous!
Lastly, look after your hair! Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamins and minerals to give your hair the glowing, healthy look you want on your big day. You might also want to try some home remedies that won’t harm your hair such as raw egg, honey and olive oil, leave in for 15 minutes and then wash out. You may even want to invite your bridesmaids for a fun night of hair treatment!
