There is a good chance that many of your guests will have to travel cross state to attend your wedding, and this means they will have to go through a lot of effort and expense to share your special day with you. Here are some handy tips to help them make this easier.
Essential Details
You can make everything much easier for your out of town guests if you put together a wedding itinerary for them.
Your wedding itinerary should include info such as key times, locations, who is hosting, what to wear, and so on for each activity. Also add in any free time they'll have, and provide suggestions for how to fill it.
Places To Stay
As your guests may not be familiar with the area, ensure that you recommend different places for guests to stay. Look for locations near your ceremony and reception sites.
You should start calling 6 months before your wedding and check on availability and don’t forget to enquire about group bookings. Keep your guest's budget range in mind, but it may still be a good idea to give your guests options at either end of the budget range and let them decide which they would like to stay in.
Getting Around
Some of your out-of-towners may choose to rent a car while they are in town so be sure to call around and speak with car rental companies – and pass any info you get to your guests.
You will also need to cater for those who wont be hiring cars or don’t drive – organize a shuttle or bus to collect your guests at the airport to get them to the hotel or at least from the accommodation to the wedding and back.

Special Treats
Imagine your guests delight when they walk into their accommodation and discover a little treat that you have left for them! A basket of fresh fruit, a bouquet of flowers, a tin of local chocolates, or a bottle of chilled bubbly would really go down well and make them feel at home. Don’t forget to have a welcome packs of relevant information:
- Phone numbers of the families of the bride and groom
- Names of the other guests staying at the hotel
- Copy of your wedding itinerary
- Local brochures and sightseeing maps
Entertainment
Although you are going to be very busy before your wedding, your out of town guests wont – so don’t leave them on the lurch. You could organize that the out of town guests all get to gether and have their own evening gathering, or you can give them some ideas as to how they can spend their evening leading up to the big day.
Quality Time
Don’t forget that the reason why your guests have come is to share this special day with you and to see you. Be sure that you do get to spend some quality time with them, either before or during your wedding.
